I found one of the biggest connections from last week was the influence of the elements. Of the 5 elements, earth, air, water, fire and spirit, there were three that seemed to connect the most, which were Earth, Air and Fire. When working with groups of closely related pieces, it is important to have some knowledge of each piece so first let’s talk about Water and Spirit. WATER is connected to the west and is known to work intensely with the feminine energies of flow, emotion, and fertility. Water is often a beautiful sign of transition, which sometimes can offer a sense of the momentum in which the shift will arrive. SPIRIT as an element is referred to as ether and can be more difficult to describe as an element of earth since it is not. Spirit is everywhere and nowhere and any one given moment; it takes the human existence beyond the physical vessel and into its deepest form of source. It is expressed through your deepest creative source is the light and the shadow of existence as a reminder of what connects you to all things.
AIR, like spirit, is more ethereal than the other elements and governs the upper energies of thought management. In connection to spring it brings the fresh breath after the cool of winter and associates the direction of east. Air relates to all thought, ideas, intellect, discovery, and imagination. If air has drawn your attention, notice where you see an excess of judgmental or critical thinking. Where are you hard on yourself and/or others? Sometimes air will speak to a lack freedom is some aspect of your life. Air can be easily felt with a gentle breeze and a deep breath, so take a moment opening the body through the practice of a deep body breath visualizing the opening of your crown chakra. Allow yourself to be a clear and open channel to receive the feedback that leads you forward.
EARTH is the element that allows us to ground our physical, mental and emotional bodies. Corresponding to the season of winter it can be the balancing energy for the other elements as they all exist in earth’s capacity. Its energy governs all aspects of life that are physical, so if earth has shown up for you in some way, pay attention to your body, job, security, finances or health. See and feel what doesn’t feeling secure or grounded within and around you. Practice opening yourself through connection to the earth by putting your bare feet on the grass or, a stone walkway. You could also create an earth alter space in your home using rocks, crystals, leaves, plants, etc. and write down your intention for connection, and place it on the alter. Practice offering your energy to the intention and see how you can ground to move through.
FIRE is such an incredibly powerful element that holds to both ends of the creative and destructive spectrum, challenging you to burn to ashes and rise again. It is ruler of the south and the sun which brings warmth to the deep passions of life and possibility. Fire creates a spark to motivate energies that may be stuck or blocked, although sometimes the spark can ignite into a flame that burns through the path eating all along the way. Out of the fire is where new growth can flourish and become healed over time. Fire can sometimes leave a burn if the focus becomes too self-absorbed. Remember that if fire shows up, the opportunity is present to refocus your passion, to burn down the old and rise through the ashes. What a beautiful essence of self and the reflection of self that is seen in others.
No matter which of the elements came forward for you last week, or may come in the future, know that you can honor the energy they bring with gentle attention and awareness with your life. Let them speak to you, ground you, breath you, cleanse you, burn you to ashes and lift you to the stars!
