Perspective can create reality, what you perceive, you believe. In this last week I observed many moments where I realized that the way I see people, places and things, is through a filter of my own conditioning. There is not only one filter either, there are filters for social conditioning, morality, emotions, stress, fatigue, love, joy and so many more. As I observed how I exist in these moments, I recognize that my judgements and opinions of everything around me settle into my own filtered existence. When I am able to acknowledge my responses and/or reactions through this filter I can accept what is and move forward.
What does that look like to move forward? For each person the journey will look different, however having awareness of the filters you carry is a common thread throughout all beings. When you are able to see others as they actually are you create an opportunity to love them as they are without judgements or misconceptions of who you think they “should” be. Same goes for situations or challenges you experience, if you are always thinking about what “should” be happening, then you are not being present with what is actually happening. Many years ago I remember someone said to me, “…don’t should on yourself…” and I have to say, it really stuck with me. Looking back I realize that this is a sign that others, while trying to be supportive and loving, are placing expectations on me from their perspective of who they think I am or could be. This is their filter activating and so I remind myself when I am “shoulding” on others, to step back and take a breath remembering that they know what is best for them. From here the practice becomes being present with how they can be served from what their needs are, not from what you think they need. This will take some practice and patience but the awareness of when your filters activate opens a new world of existence.
This last week was also a time for the body to be heard and when the body has something to say, definitely listen. From Monday to Thursday there was a heaviness present. The kind of heaviness that makes you feel as if you could simply lay down and sleep for days. It didn’t seem to feel like being drained in the moment, more like you were already drained and having to continue to push through life, crawling to reach the next place to receive rest and rejuvenation. This energetic heaviness seemed connected to the approach of the full moon occurring on Monday, February 22, 2016. It felt as if there were heavy emotions that needed to work their way out by shifting down through the body to the earth. Sometimes when the energy has to travel through each of the energy centers, especially with emotional energy that touches every center, it can create a dragging or heavy pull and in this case it was pulling down toward the feet. It becomes necessary to take care of yourself and practice building your strength and energy back up.
There were many with deep sinus pressure or draining, and several who came down with a full-fledged cold. When you feel low on energy or drained this is a good sign that you are low on Chi (chee). Chi, also known as prana, or Ki (key), is the energy that your body, mind and spirit use to function. Your Life Force. Life force is present throughout the entire body’s existence and when the energy body is low on Chi it can deplete the life force energy that surrounds you, opening you up for getting sick or experiencing some form of dis-ease in the body. Something as small as a persistent negative thought can create holes in your energetic system that turn into headaches, body aches, clumsiness, or brain fog. When you feel that heaviness sink in pay close attention to your physical body’s messages and invite yourself to be a little curious about what is really going on. If you feel the need to rest, change your diet, get out in nature to walk or run, then do that! Your willingness to pay attention and learn about these messages from your body is the key to begin the healing process within you.
